Gourmet food for health conscious
people
Verlette Simon is the owner of The Healthy
Gourmet, a personal chef and boutique catering service in the Washington,
DC area. A native New Yorker, Verlette began her career as an apprentice
at the Natural Gourmet Institute. From there, she started Verlie Girl
Goodies, a vegan baked goods company. Verlette is a graduate of the
Institute for Integrative Nutrition and is a licensed Nutrition and Holistic
Health Counselor.
After struggling with her own food allergies
and illness, Verlette decided to turn her cooking focus to foods that
support health. She began making meals for individuals with health issues
and found that it was her calling. After moving to Washington, DC in 1999,
Verlette began working for Carla Hall of Top Chef” fame as both
an administrator and catering chef. There she developed her love of locally
grown seasonal and organic foods.
She has been providing personal chef and
boutique catering services since 2002. She has worked as catering chef
for a variety of local caterers and as a personal chef on a private yacht
in the Caribbean.
Verlette’s food is best described as a
healthy approach to classic American cuisine with an international flair.
Combining food, healing, education, and inspiration is her passion.
